Western Michigan University - Aviation Summer Camp 

Western Michigan University in partnership with the Air Zoo runs a week long summer camp focusing on the exciting field of aviation.  The 2014 Aviation Summer Camps were a great success filled with good memories, friends, flying and exceptional content!  Please take a moment to see what Aviation Summer Camp is all about.  If you are interested in one of our two types of aviation camps (Aviation Summer Camp, Advanced Aviation Summer Camp) please fill out the form below.  

 

Summer Camp 2013 Video:

Aviation Summer Camps are an awesome opportunity for high school students ages 13-17 to experience many aspects of aviation.  Two options are available: Those who are generally interested in aviation and want to get some experience will find the Aviation Summer Camp to be their best bet, for those with more experience in aviation or who have already experienced an Aviation Summer Camp, the Advanced Aviation Summer Camp will enhance the knowledge already gained and truly prepare participants for a more in-depth career oriented / experienced environment.

Join two nationally recognized aviation facilities, Western Michigan University's College of Aviation and the Air Zoo for a week of educational experiences including: 

  • Enhancing leadership skills
  • Piloting the advanced WMU Cirrus SR-20 and simulation devices
  • Speakers from the industry
  • Hands-on aircraft maintenance
  • Aviation Management and Operations activities
  • Social activities

  • Aviation Summer Camp
  • Advanced Aviation Summer Camp

 

Aviation Summer Camp

  • Camp will be from Sunday June 22, 2014 through Friday June 27, 2014 and Sunday July 20, 2014 through Friday July 25, 2014*
  • 5 nights of accommodations in the WMU Residence Halls*
  • All meals and snacks*
  • Entrance fees into all activities and parks
  • Linen packet
  • Ground transportation to all activities and events (no vehicle required)
  • All flight and simulator fees
  • Instructional time
  • Detailed itinerary coming early 2015. 

(Transportation to and from the camp is the responsibility of the camper and/or their family)

Program Fees

Total cost is $1,500.*

A $150.00 deposit is due by May 22 with remaining balance due by June 22.*

 

Advanced Aviation Summer Camp

  • Camp will be from Sunday, July, 13, 2014 through Friday, July 18, 2014*
  • Previous attendance of a structured aviation summer camp required
  • 5 nights of accommodations in the WMU Residence Halls
  • All meals and snacks
  • Entrance fees into all activities and parks
  • Linen packet
  • Ground transportation to all activities and events (no vehicle required)
  • All flight and simulator fees
  • Instructional time
  • Detailed itinerary coming early 2015.  

Program Fees

Total cost is $2,550.*

A $150.00 deposit is due by June 13 with remaining balance due by July 13.*


Camp Scholarships

The summer camp programs also have a limited amount of scholarships available to students who want to experience Aviation Summer Camp or Advanced Aviation Summer Camp.  Please click here to download the scholarship application and return it with your camp application to the address above.  If you are applying for a scholarship you must submit your camp application and scholarship application by May 1, 2015.*
